Awesome design of the flag of hawaii

King Kamehameha Statue pictured with the Hawaii Flag

Ever wondered why the Hawaii Flag looks like the British flag? It turns out that in the 1800's, King Kamehameha as a sign of friendship flew the British flag. It was flown all around the Island in many important places. The United States government during the war of 1812 asked why Hawaii was flying the enemy flag. So, to appease both the U.S. and Britain, King Kamehameha I commissioned a design that combined both the British and the U.S. Flag design elements elements.
